The presiding count has become power hungry and out of control. He has doubled taxes on the town closest to him and plans to invade a nearby town of a neighboring county in one week. Gather allies and rouse the townsfolk. Do what you can in seven days to take the count down.

Roll dice to scout for followers,  sway pillars of the community that aid you with powerful bonuses, and learn to love a town that learns to love you.

*A chatty woman beckons you over* Hey lass, you’re new in these parts, aren’t you? Oh, don’t act surprised I can tell. I know nearly every face that passes through this village and I don’t think I’ve seen yours. Come and walk with me. We can talk on the way to Henrietta’s. I was just talking to Camilla though, saying about how things have got more interesting around here recently, just not in the good way. The wise woman spoke of omens only some months ago and now all the men in town have been snatched up, conscripted by the count. His staff are tight-lipped, but from what little I could glean, he’s on the road to conquest. The guards think they move on Monday in a week, to the west. Two days on horseback will set them right at the gates of a neighboring village. I fear they won’t know what hit them. But enough of that ominous talk. You’re here to get your wits about you and I’m wandering from one topic to the next. You’re not lost yet I hope. Things work relatively simply around here. What you do for others, they tend to do in return. Folk are friendly, and they’ll warm up to you fast, but only when you put in the effort to know them. Some places won’t even let you in ‘fore you make a name for yourself. And, before you try to make any splashes in the community, do make sure the people are behind you. None hear out a mistress with no influence. Looks like we’re at Henrietta’s though. It was nice chatting! If you don’t see me again, do be sure to reach out to another one of the townsfolk. I promise we don’t bite, most of us. Farewell

“Down with the Count” is a hodgepodge of elements from visual novels, life sims, crpgs, and more. It’s inspired by all the stories we've loved and is the first game many of us have made.

There are bugs, flaws, and imperfections.  All characters show up as the baker, and their unique themes are not playing for some unfortunate reason. But, in the words of an orphan wise beyond his years, Even if the hero loses something important, they made it through till the finish. They did what they wanted to do and hopefully found something just as important on the way.

A game by Jade Savio, Taisei Clemens, Cora McSkimming, and Eli Savio with additional music by Ezra Stone
